Hard to believe but it's 2 years ago yesterday that this superb squad of girls only went to UL and lifted National honours in the form of the U12 Gaynor Cup.A nod too to the back room staff of John Flanagan, Kevin Sheeran, Micheal Collins, Emma Gibbons, Jessica Lambe , Melissa Devaney, Vivienne Cadden and all at the Mayo Schoolboys \Girls League. Fantastic achievement that very much deserves to be remembered.

On this day in 2019 this bunch of fabulously gifted footballers were in Abbey carton Longford for the U12 Gaynor Cup Qualifying round. After 4 games the Mayo girls faced the hosts Longford and won 2 -0 with goals from Mallaidh Lavelle and Roisin Horkan. Not a single goal was conceded on the day as the girls grabbed one of the 4 places on offer for the University of Limerick later that year.Management on the day was Kevin Sheeran, Micheal Collins and Darine Moran with Dave Breen and Patrick Lambe..

Well done to both Mayo teams who competed in the Counnaught Youth Final tonight in Castlebar. Ballyheane defeated Manulla in a tight game that could have gone anyway. A goal for Ballyheane in the first half was all that separated the teams.

The League Management Committee on behalf of all the club's would like to congratulate the under 12 girl's squad and management on their magnificent achievement of winning the under 12 cup at The Gaynor Tournament. These girls have battled through a tough group in Longford unbeaten to qualify for the finals. In what was a tough day for them they remained unbeaten. Everyone involved in football in Mayo should be super proud of them.

Kennedy Cup 2014:Ashley Stevenson's 2014 group has produced some extremely talented players who are still impacting the game in the League of Ireland, at both senior and U19 level. Luke McNicholas is a regular in Sligo Rovers first team squads, while James McGrath, Darren Collins, Liam Whyte, Mark Byrne and Cian McAllister are mainstays in the Rovers U19 team.
